However, there is no evidence to prove either of the stories. ![]() He arrived in this area and founded the city, then gave it his surname, Barca. That is where the name ‘Pyrenees’ comes from.Īnother legend says the city’s origin lies with the Carthaginians, to Hamilcar Barca, Hannibal’s father. However, they could not stay together for more than several months in order to continue their respective journeys. Hercules also fell in love with a beautiful girl, Pyrene. The crew fell in love with the area and decided to name the city after barca (boat) and nona (ninth). Collectively, they began searching for the ninth one and found it at the bottom of the hill of Montjuïc. One legend says that Hercules once set off on a journey with nine ships, with one separating from the group. El Cuco is known for walking up and down the streets at night with a black bag, scouting for those children who roam the streets or misbehave.” And so, el Moruno kidnapped a seven-year old boy, Bernardo, in a cloth bag, to slit his underarm and drink his blood. She told him he would be cured by drinking the blood of children and rubbing their fat on his chest. He was desperately looking for a cure for the disease, so he sought help from a Curandera. “According to a Spanish legend, Francisco Ortega, aka el Moruno, was a man sick with tuberculosis at the beginning of the XXth century. The backstory of El Coco, take from Ramezcla, is spooky: “Sleep child, sleep now, or else the Coco will come and eat you.” “Duermete niño, duermete ya, que viene el Coco y te comerá.” Incorporating this story in rhymes or lullabies is popular, and many parents use it to encourage children to go to bed, saying: In Spain, this is synonymous with ‘ El Coco’ (or Cuco), a monstrous creature that eats or kidnaps children if they cause trouble. Many of us have heard stories of the Boogieman or a creature that takes kids away if they disobey. Narrating tales to get kids to do something is a common scenario throughout the world. Let’s begin exploring some of the interesting stories I came across about Spain. Spanish mythology is full of jarring characters and stories, like the monstrous creature who eats naughty children, a mouse that takes teeth, and a love story to contest the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.įor my #MythicalMondays post this week on Spain, Henar of Wanderwings joined me to write about mythical creatures and Spanish folklore.

In this case, you probably will hold shift, ctrl, alt or even AltGr (or a combination of those keys) together with the “~”, and thus the program reads a strange mixture of “~” with some modifiers that are not expected. But most layouts probably will have it either on the default location left to the “1”, or access it differently. When that key is simply moved to another physical key, you should be able to simply use that key instead of the key that is left of the “1”. Sadly, Satisfactory is none of these “keycode readers” and wants you to push the real “~” key. Some software therefore doesn’t rely on the operating system to handle the keyboard but reads a key-code instead that indicates which physical key was pushed and thus can work independently of the real keyboard, at least as long as the keyboard has roughly the same number and physical layout of any keys. And finally some keyboard layouts also can allow people to “compose” letters by pushing several keys, eg generating an “éèê” by pushing one of the keys “´`^” followed by “e”, or they even have a second alternate “alt” key (labeled “AltGr” which behaves as if you would push alt and ctrl at the same time) on the bottom right that replaces the “right alt” key and can easily produce additional characters like Satisfactory How to Play on the Experimental Branch (Test Server) These differences are even more noticable and important for all the special characters and symbols (eg !”§$%&/()= above the numbers 1-0, etc). for most people the second row of keys probably will read QWERTY (among others, this can be the american or british layout), but can also be QWERTZ (german keyboard, like mine), or AZERTY, etc etc. The most well known difference is the ordering of keys. “Assumed hardware” doesn’t only mean that you have a keyboard at all, but also means that the operating system supports the keyboard with a specific keyboard layout, and there are many different keyboards and even more different keyboard layouts that have different functions and generate different characters for the same (physical) keys. Here are the (somewhat simplified) technical details how keyboards work, and why you might not have been able to successfully open the console by pushing the key left of the “1” : Link, transcripts, and more are available at parkdalehaunt. I think that, like me, a lot of people will end up buying both formats, using the book as a quick reference/refresher and the audio download for inspiration and motivation. And he has a terrible time "sticking to the script", as he puts it, which means the audiobook is chock-full of "bonus material" you won't find in the print version. And nobody can deliver the message better than "Garyvee". The premise of the book is as simple as it is powerful: Social networking platforms are creating unprecedented opportunities for anyone with the drive and the persistence to go after them. Print just does not do the material-nor it's charismatic author- justice. So I downloaded the audio and there was just no comparison-it's twice as good as the book. I bought the print version over the holidays but it kept disappearing (people in my family kept nicking it). Only rarely does an audiobook match up to the print version, let alone exceed it, even when it's read by its own author. Let's be honest: For a long time, most audio books have been a compromise-they're something you consume when you're too busy to sit down and read the book yourself. I'm an info-junkie, so when I'm not online or reading, I'm listening to a book or podcast. In conclusion, I still think Gary is an awesome dude with so much value to offer, but this book is just a relic of ancient times. With all that being said, I think that if you are a noob, and have no idea how to get into branding and social media, this book is a great place to start, but then again you could just search the Gary V engine on his website and find all the info you need, or read one of his more recent books for up to date information. Also, why does he tell us at the beginning of the book that "loving your family" is one of the 3 components to success? That's one of his own personal values, not a universal principle of success. I know that for those who need that motivation, this is a good thing, but for those who already understand the concept of working hard for your passion, it just gets annoying to hear every few sentences the same thing over again. he keeps repeating over and over again "follow your passion", "work hard". on top of that, Gary is extremely repetitive. Most of the things you learn in this book can easily be found anywhere with a simple Google search. 8 years have passed since this audiobook has been recorded, alot of the info, websites and apps he talks about are either updated, forgotten, don't exist anymore, irrelevant or replaced by other modern websites. I'm a big fan of Gary V, but this book is now part of history of the Internet. In my opinion, the best small business book ever written is "The E-Myth Revisited." I read that book and it completely changed my business. I'm sure there are many thousands who find this book to be useful. I don't think I would have bought this book if I could go back in time, but that's just my personal preference. The one thing in the book that helped me and has stuck with me is the chapter on caring. I'm looking for how to use those technologies better, with specific tips. Get a blog, use this or that technology, what social media sites are best, etc. The actual "how to do it" chapters were pretty old news to me. ![]() It's because, like many business books, it just didn't leave me with any real insight as to how I can change my business to apply the ideas. That means you may need to place your connecting track from a double track at least 4 sections away from your stations signals. Some train engineers don't stop at the signal light, but half to a full engine length beyond the signal. Depending upon how late into history you are playing, some of your more modern engines will take up 3 1/2 sections of track. Since the smallest piece of track usable is $2,000, that is what I'm referring to when I say a 'section'.Ī. Each cargo car or passenger car uses up a $4,000 length piece of track, and train engines can use anywhere from a $4,000 piece of track to a $7,000 piece of track. The absolute minimum sized piece of track you can build costs $0 but the minimum sized piece of track a train can run on costs $2,000. Sometimes, you'll even need triple lines. You will need to build a lot of double tracks that join into a single track for each of the lines you have running through your stations. This game is so buggy it should never have been released. I try to edit the routes, but the game will not let me change anything. IronArcturus: Is there a way to reverse a train in Sid Meier's Railroads? I'm in the tutorial and the 2 trains are stuck on the same line. Sorry, I don't know how to change the player color to red. So better to think carefully where you put them in the first place. In order to remove the track no trains can be using it as the sole route to their destination. Removing signals requires that the track on one side of the signal be removed and then the line rebuilt. These stubs can be a pain if removing that track or signal is desired later in the game. This works, but tends to leave little stubs that aren't visible. This refunds almost all the build money and leaves a single-choice signal.Īnother trick is to place the track build cursor back right on top of the start point. The idea of the sharp angle is to make selecting the track easy as we we then immediately remove it. Lay a very short section of track at a sharp angle to your line. Most reliable trick to make signals is to select single track build and the location you want the signal as the start of that build track section. If one is careful how he uses signals the game can be run with little more than the occasional jam. Make sure that any signal other than those near a station provide two options for a train. Make any split of one track into two far enough from the stations that the rear of any train in the station is still on the single track section. Designing track to avoid this can prevent most jams. To make the train turn, re-enter the routing screen, delete the first stop again and then add it back making it the second stop. If the train only has two stops and is currently headed to the first stop, we need an extra step. If the train only has two stops and is currently headed to the second stop, delete the first stop and add it back which will automatically make it the second stop and the train will turn. That would be the one in the opposite direction to what the train is facing now. If that sounds a bit complicated, here's how to implement this: Edit the stuck train's route so that it only has two stops with the second being the one you wish it to go to next. This game is setup so that if a train loses its current destination it will proceed to the second stop on the list. This can be done, but requires some manipulation of the train's route. |
